Yesterday, my sister in law, Liz, who lives in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders had seen around 40 Whooper Swans flying inland over the town, wonder if they flew on up to St Mary's Loch. Then shortly afterwards the Red Arrows flew past..
This morning, I gave Bob a hand to carry out the WeBS Count from Bowmore to Gartbreck. New resident on Islay, David Barr came along to give us support too...The scores on the doors were as follows, 1 GND, 2 Gannets, 2 Shag, 2 Cormorant, 48 Greylag, 2 Heron, 20 Shelduck, 2 Mallard,20 Oystercatcher, 6 Curlew, 1 Whimbrel, 6 Redshank, 12 Dunlin, 30 Ringed Plover, 14 Lapwing, 1 Snipe, 2 Arctic Tern, 1 pr of GBB Gull, 10 adult H Gull, 20 immature H Gull, 10 C Gull and1 pr of BH Gull. Also seen was a male Linnet down on the shoreline, along with many Rock Pipits. James today at his house had a Siskin on his feeders, and while visiting us this afternoon, James spotted a Blue tailed Damsel fly. The weather today has been "scorchio", but this afternoon I spent some time re- arranging guards round of the trees which I had planted last year, giving the trees some more space to grow into...
