Tuesday 18th June

Another great day out here (heard that before somewhere!), so been busy outside for most of the day. In the afternoon one of the Corncrakes was calling away for some of the time and he was not that far away, they are so secretive, hearing them is one thing, trying to actually locate them and see them is something else. At least I did get my sighting of one the other day! A Cuckoo was calling away up the glen before lunchtime and on the bird table there have been young Starlings, Greenfinches and House Sparrows hanging around expecting their parents to feed them... Over in the reed bed the Sedge Warblers have been calling away for most of the day, can't exactly say they were singing, rather they were making a racket!
