Monday 30th July

An early entry tonight as we are heading down to Laggan to meet up with the local "nerds". The weather this morning was something else, rain and more rain of the wetting variety, but it has turned out this afternoon to be nice and sunny, blue skies with the odd cloud...The "vols" at Gruinart had carried out a count on Loch Gruinart on Friday, with their count being 1 Cormorant, 3 Heron, 58 Shelduck, 28 Eider, 295 Oystercatcher, 34 Ringed Plover, 26 Dunlin, 74 Curlew, 3 Greenshank, 58 Black headed Gull, 300 Common Gull, 8 Lesser Black backed Gull, 5 Greater Black backed Gull, 11 Herring Gull, 5 Gannet and 8 Greylag Geese. James who is on holiday down on the Scilly Isles has seen Green Sandpiper, Greenshank, Little Egret, Reed warblers, Golden Pheasants and also Swifts being the top of his lists.
