Friday 16th May

A great day out here, but late afternoon the temperature has dropped like a stone, feels like being back in single figures again, and the jersey is back on too...Some sightings through from Emily, on the guided walk on the Oa on Tuesday, the Golden Eagle pair were seen along with pr of Chough, pr of Hen Harriers, Peregrine, Linnets, Sedge Warbler, Reed Bunting, Stonechat & Whinchat. On Thursday's walk at Gruinart, Emily had Linnet, Redpoll, Cuckoo on the moorland trail, Corncrake showing itself off outside the Visitor Centre, and pr of Gadwall from the hide. The Bowland Birders had pr of Common Sandpiper by the car park at Machir Bay, in the reed bed, there was a Corncrake and also Sedge Warblers calling away. Over at Granny Rock they had 2 pr of Ravens as well as some Fulmars there too. In the Buin Dubha wood they had Whitethroats, Reed Buntings and Willow Warbler while over Cnoc Dubh itself, a male Hen Harrier was seen. Finally, round at Ballinaby, 10 Golden Plover were spotted.
