Wednesday 24th May

We are getting back to normal again thankfully, although I heard that some folk round Loch Gorm had been without power for 36 hours, think I will stay this side for the time being... Jon and Angie had seen a Purple Sandpiper on the shoreline just at Bruichladdich Distillery. Friends from Bearsden had been up at Bunnahabhain and had an Otter eating a crab. Last night Michal had been out Corncrake counting, and he counted 8 on the reserve at Gruinart. On his travels he also heard 4 Water Rails, 9 Snipe, 7 Grasshopper Warblers and at least 13 Sedge Warblers calling away. He also heard a Barn Owl at Moine Mhor when he was out . A Corncrake was calling at Gruinart this evening for the folk that came on the Corncrake walk, a Sparrowhawk was also seen. We saw a pair of Oystercatchers along with 3 young after Sunderland Farm, James had a Shoveler and with her brood of 6 on the reserve at Gruinart while Malcolm saw the Mute Swan plus 7 cygnets down at "smelly corner".
